The Montessori Program

Our program aims to provide a challenging and stimulating environment helping the child to grow and develop:

  • Independence
  • Self-confidence
  • Initiative
  • Concentration
  • Social skills

Practical Life Exercises assist children in learning to take care of themselves, each other, and their environment.

Sensorial Activities provide specific opportunities for exploration to order, broaden, and refine sense perceptions.

Language Activities nourish the child's vocabulary and enhance self-expression. An introduction to the phonetic sounds of the alphabet lays a solid foundation on which to build reading and writing skills.

Mathematic Activities offer an exciting, concrete experience of numerical concepts and operations.

Cultural Activities in science, geography, history, art and music deepen the children's awareness of the world around them.

Music Activities include movement, speech, dramatic play, songs, rhythm, and percussion instruments.

Physical Activities develop gross motor skills.

Snack Policy

Due to the severity and increasing number of food allergies, the parent school board along with the teachers, have reviewed and developed a policy for providing snack which best protects the teachers, the board, but most importantly, the children at risk.

 Goals

  • To provide a safe and healthy self-serving snack - an essential part of the Montessori environment.
  • To meet the requirements of Daycare Licensing - providing a small snack consisting of one item from each of the food groups (protein, fruit or vegetable, grain).
  • To provide a small snack, free of life-threatening ingredients, such as nuts and peanuts.
  • To note and/or exclude, where possible, non-life threatening ingredients.
